The original Dune prologue tells the story of how the Rossak sisters evolved into the Bene Gesserit. The incident with Valya Harkonnen using the voice is from one called “Mentats of Dune.” The development of the Sisters, Mentats, Navigators, and Suk Doctors intertwines throughout all three books. This spinoff is more like Game of Thrones than Dune.

This is a great spin-off of a beloved film franchise

That said, Dune: The Prophecy is everything I expected it to be, and more. I have to start by saying that I have never read the source material or seen the original film. My experience with Dune is based on the two Dune movies that have come out in the last few years starring Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya.

I love them both so much that I had high hopes for this series

Those two movies (especially Dune: Part II) are two of my favorite movies I’ve seen in the last few years. Dune: Prophecy is a series that takes place 10,000 years before the start of the Dune movies and is about how the Harkonnen sisters started the Bene Gesserit as a way to fight against forces that threaten the future of humanity. The show may feel more like Game of Thrones than Dune, but either way… it’s a lot of fun.

You don’t have to watch the two Dune movies to enjoy this, but you’ll definitely enjoy it more if you do

The most important thing about this show is that it does exactly what it set out to do, which is to deepen our understanding of the Bene Gesserit.
