After recovering, the show went back into production. Bridges referred to the return as coming back from a "long weekend" on a podcast in July 2022..

The Old Man is a spy thriller that is absolutely worth watching!

Jeff Bridges is as great as ever and does an incredible job of making you think he’s still dumb at 72! His dogs steal every scene he’s in and remind me of the dogs in John Wick.

I look forward to more and recommend this to anyone who is a fan of spy thrillers

The rest of the cast are at the top of their game here too, especially John Lithgow (who rarely disappoints). I know there are a lot of really good spy shows to choose from, but this has everything you want in a spy thriller and is definitely a must see.

It’s stylized Cold War spycraft in a modern setting, and it’s a very satisfying film

Gary Oldman plays the quintessential old curmudgeon, an MI5 spy left over from the Cold War (and ostracized at Slough House), who still dodges shadows and sees real threats before anyone else.

Another well-made show that builds up its immediate world with details of setting, character (and subterfuge) – the indispensable components of good storytelling

If you’re just discovering this show now that Season 2 has been released, you should do yourself a favor and watch Season 1 first – it’s a good story and will offer a depth of characters and situations that will add to your enjoyment.

Highly recommended – Oldman and Kristin Scott-Thomas are fabulous, as are Jack Lowden and Saskia Reeves

Season 2 seems to have upped the game in terms of production design and cinematography – it really paid off and elevated the show above the usual weekly episodic routine of television.
